Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

Description: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is when stomach contents (stomach acid and/or bile) come back up the esophagus and can cause inflammation or damage to the tissue. This is a result of improper closure of the valve at the top of the stomach.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of an investigational pediatric micro-bead formulation of rabeprazole sodium 2 target dose levels in subjects 1-11 years of age with endoscopically proven GERD.

Study Length: Part 1: 14 weeks, Part 2: 24 weeks
Randomization: Double-blind, randomized to study drug 0.5mg/kg or 1.0mg/kg in a 1:1 ratio
Number of visits: Part 1: 5 in office visits and 2 telephone callsPart 2: 4 in office visits Visit content: Blood draws, pregnancy test (if applicable), EGD with biopsy, pHmetry (if indicated), physical assessments, treatment and symptom surveys/scales
